We have not appointed a data protection officer, as we are not legally required to do so.

2. General

We process personal data only as permitted by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). This website uses an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS). We do not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus. When you visit the website, the server automatically records your IP address, the date and time of access, the page requested, the referring URL, and your browser and operating system. We need this data to deliver the website and to keep it secure.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and functioning website). Log files are deleted automatically after a short period, unless they are needed to investigate a security incident. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Hostinger (Art. 28 GDPR).

4. Website security

We use Wordfence (Defiant, Inc., USA) to protect this website against attacks. It checks the IP addresses of visitors against known threats.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in IT security). Transfers to the USA are based on Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).

5. Cookies

This website only uses technically necessary cookies (§25(2) TDDDG). We do not use analytics or marketing cookies. Details are available in our Cookie Policy (EU).

6. Contact form and email

When you contact us via the contact form or by email, we process your name, email address, organisation (if provided) and your message in order to handle your enquiry. Contact form submissions are also stored on our website server.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual steps; otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries). Submissions stored on the website are deleted automatically after 12 months, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

7. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address to send it to you. We use Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group LLC, an Intuit company, USA). Data is transferred to the USA on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. We use a double opt-in: you confirm your subscription via a link we send you by email.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in each newsletter. We keep your email address until you unsubscribe.

8. External links and LinkedIn

This website links to our LinkedIn page and to our careers page hosted on Notion. These are plain links: no data is sent to these services until you click on them. After that, their own privacy policies apply.
For our LinkedIn company page, we are jointly responsible with LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company for processing page visitor statistics (Art. 26 GDPR). Details: LinkedIn Page Insights Joint Controller Addendum.

9. Recipients

We only share personal data with the service providers named above, or where we are required to by law. We do not sell personal data.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access your data (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16), deleted (Art. 17) or its processing restricted (Art. 18), and to receive it in a portable format (Art. 20). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where we process your data on the basis of legitimate interest, you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. You can object to direct marketing at any time without giving reasons.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
